Boston Pizza Int'l sales up 27%

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Same-store sales at Canadian pizza chain Boston Pizza increased 6.6 percent for the quarter ended Sept. 30, the company announced. Year-to-date, same-store sales increased 6.6 percent as well.
Sales at restaurants included in the Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund increased 27 percent to $156 million for the quarter.
The Fund is a limited purpose, open-ended trust established under the laws of British Columbia to acquire indirectly certain trademarks and trade names used by BPI in its Boston Pizza restaurants in Canada. The trademarks are licensed to BPI for 99 years.
There are 286 Boston Pizza restaurants in Canada, of which 266 are included in the royalty pool.
Net income for the fund in the third quarter was $4.7 million, up 24 percent compared with a net income of $3.8 million for the third quarter of 2006.
