Boston Pizza recognized for franchise excellence

TORONTO, Ontario — Boston Pizza International Inc. has received the 2007 Pinnacle Award for Franchise Excellence, recognizing excellence and leadership in the foodservice and hospitality industry. The award was presented at a luncheon ceremony at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto Dec. 3, 2007.
The Pinnacle Awards is a national awards program honoring achievement in Canada's $51.5 billion foodservice and hospitality industry. The awards are presented by Kostuch Publications Ltd., publisher of Foodservice and Hospitality magazine.
In 2006, Boston Pizza International generated sales of $647 million and same-store sales growth of 6.5 percent, compared with the industry average of 2.7 percent. Boston Pizza opened 33 new stores in 2007 and plans to open 30-35 new locations a year over the next five years.
This year, Boston Pizza launched a scholarship program where 33 restaurant employees from across Canada were awarded scholarships for $1,500 each to be used for higher education opportunities.
