Boston Pizza to deploy ConnectSmart Kitchen and DineTime platforms from QSR Automation

Boston Pizza, Canada's largest casual dining restaurant chain, has decided to upgrade back-of-house and front-of-house technology with ConnectSmart Kitchen and DineTime platforms from QSR Automation. The technology will roll out at 300 locations by the end of 2018, according to a press release.

Utilizing the DineTime guest management platform, Boston Pizza will be able to accurately and efficiently seat guests, manage tables, waitlists and reservations, and store guest information in a digital database.

Diners will be able to see wait times, and add their names to the waitlist or make a reservation. DineTime seamlessly integrates to ConnectSmart Kitchen back-of-house software.

"Rather than going with stand-alone systems, DineTime and CSK talk to each other, allowing us to take full advantage of the software's broader suite of capabilities and features," Cavin Green, vice president of business technology at Boston Pizza, said in the press release. "As well, we're excited for how these systems will potentially be able to interact with other key platforms such as e-commerce."

ConnectSmart Kitchen will help Boston Pizza, whose menu includes more than 100 items, direct the flow of orders through the kitchen in real time with advanced routing, timing on orders, and dashboard reporting. 

Additionally, CSK provides historical formats to help restaurants operate more efficiently. "We're also beginning to explore and test new functionality to assist with forecasting," Green said.

Boston Pizza will also deploy TeamAssist, a digital recipe viewer, to help with staff knowledge and training while ensuring the consistency and quality of menu items.

The solution manages recipes and procedures in one central location, and features an online portal that supports easy creation and maintenance of recipes across all sites, automatically connecting every unit and reducing the need for printed recipe cards and training documents.
