The Business Review: Fifteen years ago, Papa Scavio offered sons Lorenzo, Vinnie and Frank a choice: money for college tuition or to use for a business. All three opted to go into business -- together.
Working as a team, the brothers have built Paesan's Pizza into a four-store company with outlets in the New York cities of Albany, East Greenbush, Guilderland and Colonie, set to open in mid-March.
The brothers spread the workload according to their strengths: Lorenzo handles purchasing, Frank manages the employees and Vinnie handles construction. They get along well, they say, but they're not immune to confrontations -- they're brothers after all.
"We argue, just like everyone else. But the argument ends that day. That's just the way we were brought up," Lorenzo said.
The brothers' first operation was a deli in New York City, but they moved it to Albany in 1994 because state's capital lacked authentic Brooklyn-style pizzas.
