March 24, 2022

Buddy's Pizza, which originated the Detroit-style pizza, will open its 20th and 21st locations in April, according to a press release.

The first to open is in Okemos, Michigan and will open April 4. The move marks the company's first location in the community and fourth location outside of southeast Michigan. It will be the company's second restaurant in the mid-Michigan area, with the first opening in west Lansing in June 2020, according to a press release.

All grand opening efforts for this location will benefit two Lansing-based nonprofits whose mission is to alleviate homelessness and help get families on their feet.

Buddy's will host an exclusive charity preview March 28-30, where the company will pay for each customer's food in exchange for a donation to Child and Family Charities. Buddy's will then donate all opening day sales to Haven House.

In addition to Okemos, the company will open its 21st location on April 18 in Clarkston, Michigan, which will be a carryout only concept with an updated design. The layout is designed to increase service speeds and enhance the overall guest experience.

For this restaurant opening, Buddy's has partnered with Lighthouse of Oakland County and will donate all opening day sales to the nonprofit.

"We are proud to celebrate the milestones of opening our 20th and 21st locations," Wes Pikula, Buddy's Pizza chief brand officer, said in the release. "Not only are we looking forward to how these new restaurants will further develop our business and grow our dedicated team, but we're ecstatic that more families and communities will have the opportunity to experience the Original Detroit-Style Pizza from the creator itself."
