Michigan mainstay Buddy's Pizza is planning to open its 23rd location, a carryout store in Canton. The brand has 16 full-service restaurants and six carryout stores, according to a report in The Detroit News.

The brand first opened in 1946 in Detroit and baked a square pizza using blue steel pans. Buddy's Pizza is widely credited for launching Detroit-style pizza.

The Canton carryout location is slated to open later this year.
