California Pizza Kitchen comps up 3.5%

LOS ANGELES — Comparable-store sales at California Pizza Kitchen Inc. increased 3.5 percent in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2007, compared with comps of 5.6 percent in the third quarter a year ago.
Revenues for the third quarter increased 13 percent to $162 million, compared with revenues of $142.8 million in the 2006 third quarter.
California Pizza Kitchen added six full-service restaurants during the quarter. The company's domestic franchise partner, HMSHost, opened a CPK/ASAP location in Los Angeles International Airport, while an international franchise partner, Grupo Calpik, S.A. de C.V. of Mexico, opened a full-service restaurant in Mexico City.
The company is scheduled to release its third-quarter earnings Nov. 8, 2007, with a conference call to follow.
