California Pizza Kitchen has opened in Manila, Philippines, as well as Daegu, South Korea. Those combined with a previous opening in Salt Lake City, Utah, mark what the company called its re-emergence from restructuring, after Chapter 11 proceedings in July.
CPK is planning three additional international locations in unspecified location, which it said are under construction, according to a company press release.
The newest franchise locations are at the Evia Mall in Manila, as well as Daegu Mall in Daegu. The Evia Mall location is the fifth for the brand in the Philippines, while the Daegu stores is the seventh South Korean store.
"At CPK, we take great pride in sharing our passion for California-style pizza, fresh and creative ingredients and best-in-class hospitality with our guests whether they are on the road, or overseas," Giorgio Minardi, CPK executive vice president of Global Development & Franchise Operations in the release. "This has been truly an unprecedented year due to COVID-19 headwinds, but these openings and future construction highlight the confidence we and our partners have in the strength of the brand and its restructuring plan."
Currently, the brand has more than 200 restaurants in 8 countries and U.S. territories, which includes 40 international franchise locations as well as 16 domestic franchise locations in airports, casinos and stadiums throughout the United States. The concept is based in California.
