California Pizza Kitchen Q3 comps off 2.8 percent

LOS ANGELES -- Comparable-store sales at California Pizza Kitchen restaurants fell 2.8 percent for the second quarter ended Sept. 28, the company announced, compared with an increased in comparable-store sale of 3.5 percent for the 2007 third quarter. Year-to-date comps were off 0.2 percent compared with an increase of 4.5 percent for the same period last year.
Revenues for the quarter were $174 million, up 7 percent compared with revenues of $162 million for the 2007 third quarter. Year-to-date revenues were $515.3 million, up 10 percent compared with revenues of $470 million for the first three quarters of 2007.
Net income for the quarter was $5 million, up 257 percent compared with net income of $1.4 million for the 2007 third quarter. Year-to-date net income was $14 million, up 24 percent compared with net income of $11.3 million for the same period last year.
The company added four domestic restaurants and three international restaurants during the quarter.
