California Pizza Kitchen revenues up 16 percent

LOS ANGELES — Comparable-store sales at California Pizza Kitchen Inc. restaurants increased 5.4 percent in the second quarter ended July 1, 2007, compared with a 4.8 percent increase for the same period last year.
Revenues increased 16 percent to $158.6 million for the quarter, compared with $136.2 million for the 2006 second quarter.
The company added two full-service restaurants during the quarter; one in Coral Gables, Fla., and one in New York. The company's domestic franchise partner, HMSHost, opened a CPK/ASAP location in Oakland International Airport in California, while an international franchise partner, Golden Pillars Ltd, opened a full-service restaurant in Hong Kong.
The company plans to release its second quarter earnings Aug. 9, with a conference call to follow the same day.
