Canadian Domino's Pizza franchisee posts Q1 loss

CALGARY, Alberta — Canada's Pizza Delivery Corp. (CPDC), a 261-unit
Domino's Pizza franchisee, posted a loss for the first quarter of fiscal 2007, but showed improvements in sales and revenue.
According to a news release, for the 13 weeks ended June 25, 2006, gross sales were CAN $35.2 million (U.S. $31.7 million) versus CAN $33 million (U.S. $29.7 million) in the same period last year. Revenue was CAN $3.9 million (U.S. $3.5 million) versus CAN $3.7 million (U.S. $3.3 million) in fiscal 2006, and its net loss was CAN $105,000 (U.S. $94,000) versus CAN $224,000 (U.S. $201,000).
CPDC did not report same-store sales, but it credited its sales increase to additional stores in the system. Forty-eight new units are in various stages of development.
