CEC Entertainment Q1 profit up 4%

IRVING, Texas -- Comparable-store sales at CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of the Chuck E. Cheese pizzeria chain, were off 0.1 percent for the first quarter ended March 29, the company has announced.
Revenue for the quarter was $248.1 million, up slightly from revenue of $245.2 million in the 2008 first quarter. Net income rose to $34.1 million, up 4 percent from $32.9 million a year ago.
The addition of five company-owned stores and three more franchised locations helped boost revenue, officials said.
