CEO resigns at large Canadian Domino's franchise company

May 29, 2003

CALGARY, Alberta -- Mark Waldron, president and CEO of Calgary, Alberta-based Comac Food Group Inc., a 220-store Domino's Pizza franchisee, has left the company.

No reason for Waldron's departure was given, but a news release said a search committee for his replacement is being established.

According to Comac's Web site, Waldron became its CEO and president on April 17, following the March 31 resignation of then-President John Beauparlant.

The departures of two key officials may signal deeper troubles at Comac, which operates two other foodservice chains, Pastel's Cafe, and Company's Coming Bakery Cafe. The company reported an 86 percent net earnings drop in its third quarter, ended Dec. 23, 2002. Combined earnings for its current fiscal year are flat.
