HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Paul Motenko, chairman and co-CEO of Chicago Pizza & Brewery Inc. (NASDAQ:CHGO) announced today that the company has changed its name to BJ's Restaurants Inc.
According to a news release, the change will allow the company to better leverage the BJ's brand in communications with the public and the financial community.
"Name recognition and brand awareness will become increasingly important as the company continues to expand and develop in new markets as part of our strategy to become a national restaurant chain," said Motenko.
The company's common stock, which has traded under the symbol "CHGO," will begin trading under a new symbol "BJRI" on Aug. 16. The company's stock will continue to trade on NASDAQ.
BJ's Restaurants Inc. currently owns and operates 33 casual-dining restaurants under the BJ's Restaurant and Brewery, BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse or BJ's Pizza & Grill brand names. BJ's menu includes deep-dish pizza, salads, sandwiches, soups, pastas, entrees and desserts. The company operates 10 microbreweries which produce and distribute BJ's critically acclaimed handcrafted beers throughout the chain.
