Mark Mickey, the co-owner of Pavona's Pizza Joint in Akron, Ohio, pleaded guilty to arson on last week, according to a News 5 report.
Mickey, who was originally charged with fourth-degree felony arson in February 2023, had initially pleaded not guilty.
The fire, which broke out in October 2022, destroyed the pizza shop located on Sand Run Road. The flames also engulfed Mickey's Irish Pub, located next door and owned by Mickey's wife, Courtney Pavona.
Akron officials said it took more than five hours to extinguish the fire, which used over 2.5 million gallons of water. Investigators determined the origin of the fire was under the staircase in the pizza shop.
