Cheese Block cheese prices trended up last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, averaging just over $1.50 per pound. Prices were up 13 cents from the previous week. Prices closed at just under $1.51 on Monday, $1.50 on Tuesday, $1.50 on Wednesday, and just above $1.49 on Thursday and Friday. Wheat Wheat closed at just under $5.04 per bushel Friday on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, up 13 cents from the previous week's close of $5.17. Prices for wheat closed at just over $5.05 Monday, under $5.07 Tuesday, $5.21 per bushel Wednesday and $5.12 per bushel Thursday. Gasoline and diesel fuel The nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.75 per gallon March 8, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, up 5 cents from the previous week. Prices are up slightly from an average of $2.66 per gallon a month ago and up 41 percent from an average of $1.95 per gallon this time last year. Mid-range unleaded currently averages $2.92 per gallon while premium unleaded as of March 8 stood at $3.00 per gallon. The nationwide average price for diesel fuel stood at $2.90 per gallon March 8, up 4 cents from last week. Diesel prices are up 33 percent from an average of $2.18 per gallon this time last year. Natural gas Warmer weather moved into major population centers the report week ended March 3, limiting demand related to space heating for much of the country. Prices declined, with the biggest decreases occurring at markets in the Rocky Mountains and the Midcontinent. During the report week, the Henry Hub spot price decreased $0.15 to $4.76 per million Btu (MMBtu), according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Pizza company stocks Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $34.87 on March 5, up $1.17 compared with the previous week's close of $33.70. YUM traded at a 52-week high of $36.96 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of $23.37 in March 2009. Domino's closed at $13.89, up $1.46 compared with the previous Friday's close of $12.43. DPZ has traded as high as $14.13 in March 2010 and as low as $5.61 in March 2009, over the past 52 weeks. Papa John's stock closed at $24.55, down 4 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $24.59. PZZA traded at a 52-week high of $29.25 in May 2009 and a 52-week low of $20.82 in March 2009. Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $36.78, up $1.62 compared with the previous week's close of $35.16. CEC traded at a 52-week high of $37.01 in March 2010 and a 52-week low of $19.50 in March 2009. California Pizza Kitchen closed at $16 on March 5, up 75 cents from the previous week's close of $15.25. CPKI traded as high as $17.44 in mid-April and as low as $9.41 in March 2009. Pizza Inn closed at $1.84 on March 5, up 18 cents from the previous week's close of $1.66. PZZI traded at a 52-week high of $2.25 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of 98 cents in April 2009.
