Prices are up 35 cents, or 33 percent, compared with this time last year, when block cheese averaged just under $1.07 per pound. Wheat Wheat closed at $5.21 per bushel Friday on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, off 54 cents from the previous week's close of $5.75. Prices for wheat closed at $5.78 per bushel Monday, $5.41 per bushel Tuesday, $5.44 per bushel Wednesday and just under $5.37 per bushel on Thursday. Gasoline and diesel fuel The nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.75 per gallon Jan. 18, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, flat from the previous week. Prices are up 6 percent from an average of $2.59 per gallon a month ago and up 49 percent from an average of $1.84 per gallon this time last year. Mid-range unleaded currently averages $2.92 per gallon while premium unleaded stands at $3.02 per gallon as of Jan. 18. The nationwide average price for diesel fuel stands at $2.92 per gallon Jan. 18, up 1 cent from last week. Diesel prices are up 20 percent from an average of $2.43 per gallon this time last year. Natural gas Significant price increases occurred through Jan. 8, apparently as a result of extreme temperatures and continued wellhead freeze-offs in some parts of the country during the first half of the report week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. But spot prices receded significantly between Monday, Jan. 11, and Wednesday, Jan. 13, with temperatures returning to normal. Pizza company stocks Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $36.28 on Jan. 15, up $1.56 compared with the previous week's close of $34.72. YUM traded at a 52-week high of $36.96 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of $23.37 in March 2009. Domino's closed at $11.31, up $1.94 compared with the previous Friday's close of $9.37. DPZ has traded as high as $11.57 in January 2010 and as low as $4.76 in January 2009, over the past 52 weeks. Papa John's stock closed at $25.18, up $1.29 compared with the previous Friday's close of $23.89. PZZA traded at a 52-week high of $29.25 in May 2009 and a 52-week low of $15.59 in January 2009. Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $33.59, up 91 cents compared with the previous week's close of $32.68. CEC traded at a 52-week high of $34.77 in July 2009 and a 52-week low of $19.50 in March 2009. California Pizza Kitchen closed at $14.33 on Jan. 15, up $1.09 compared with the previous week's close of $13.24. CPKI has traded as high as $17.44 in mid-April and as low as $8.77 in January 2009. Pizza Inn closed at $1.58 on Jan. 15, down 7 cents from the previous week's close of $1.65. PZZI traded at a 52-week high of $2.25 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of 98 cents in April 2009.
