HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — BJ's Restaurants, Inc., a pizza and craft-brew-centered chain, reported strong results for the 2004 fiscal year, ended Jan. 2, 2005.
According to a news release, comparable-store sales gains of 3.8 percent, along with new store openings, combined to push revenues up 25 percent to $129 million, compared to $96 million in the comparable period. Profits were $6.6 million, an 83 percent increase over the $3.6 million reported in the prior period.
Results for its fourth quarter, ended Jan. 2, 2005, were positive as well. Comps rose 1.1 percent, and, along with new store openings, helped lift revenues to $37.9 million, an increase of 40 percent over the previous period. Profits rose 121 percent to $1.6 million.
"We are very pleased with our 2004 operating results and particularly pleased with our restaurant class of 2004, which has provided some of the strongest average weekly sales in the company's history," said Paul Motenko, BJ's co-chairman. "BJ's Restaurants, Inc. is on track to open at least eight locations during 2005, in line with our stated objectives of at least 20 percent annual restaurant growth."
