NORTHAMPTON, Mass.—Comparable-store sales at Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizzeria restaurants rose 4.9 percent for the first quarter 2004, ended April 2.
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, sales grew 15.7 percent to $49.4 million during the period, compared to $42.7 million in the same period last year.
Guest counts, however, dropped 2.5 percent for the period.
Menu price increases helped drive dine-in sales up 5.3 percent, and carryout and delivery sales rose 3.5 percent.
The company also said the rising cost of cheese and oil set it back $600,000 during the period.
