Kono Pizza has signed onto a multi-unit franchise deal to open three locations in Charlotte, N.C.

The fast-casual concept features cone-shaped pizza.

"After decades of devouring countless slices of triangle or square-cut pizza, Charlotte consumers are about to experience a progressive new way to enjoy their favorite Italian dish," said entrepreneur and newest Kono operator Gayle Adams." We're excited to introduce Charlotte to a healthier and portable alternative to traditional pizza – the pizza cone."

Kono's Pizza imports its dough and sauce from Italy and considers its product a "healthier, on-the-go alternative," the company said in the announcement.
