Congress raises minimum wage to $7.25

Lexington Herald-Leader: Congress approved the first increase in the federal minimum wage in almost a decade as part of the $120 billion Iraq war spending bill. President Bush is expected to quickly sign the bill.
Minimum-wage earners will see their paychecks go up by 70 cents an hour before the end of the summer, with 70 cents to be added next year.By summer 2009, all minimum-wage jobs will pay no less than $7.25 an hour.
