ROYAL OAK, Mich.—Rhonda Morin has signed a large development agreement to roll out pizza-and-gelato stores for the Gelato di Roma brand.
According to a news release, Morin's commitment includes opening 150 stores throughout the United States over the next decade. She is the founder of the Great Lakes Education Center in Southfield, Mich., and a former emergency room nurse.
Allie T. Mallad, franchisor of Gelato di Roma, is a former 159-unit franchisee of Little Caesar's Pizza.
"Rhonda has been a successful entrepreneur in other ventures and I am convinced that her focus on area development for this company will bring more awareness to this growing brand," Mallad said.
According to its Web site, Gelato di Roma has nine locations in operation and 350 sites under contract in Arizona, California and Nevada.
The chain offers 51 flavors of gelato and sorbet, as well as pizza, salads and gourmet subs.
