ORLANDO, Fla. — Thirteen pizza makers from around the world competed for the title of World's Fastest Pizza Maker in Domino's Pizza's 19th bi-annual competition, held here on June 14. Rene DeGuia, a Domino's franchisee from Sarasota, Fla., emerged the best of them all by making three one-topping large pizzas in an impressive 1 minute 9.9 seconds.
According to a news release, DeGuia won a $5,000 cash prize for his speedy skills.
"The opportunity to be the best in the world at anything is rare, and Domino's gave me the opportunity and training to become the fastest pizza maker in the world," said DeGuia.

Domino's began the competition in 1982. Regional competitions, held across the world, determined the competitors with the fastest times.
Mustafa Habib, a supervisor at a San Francisco Domino's, finished second in the finals, followed by Sandra Vicknair, a franchise supervisor from Ponchatoula, La.
The competition was held during Domino's Worldwide Rally in Orlando, the company's two-day biannual meeting of nearly 4,000 franchisees and team members from around the globe.
