Domino's CEO Rich Allison Thursday said aloud what most of us already know by now if we order anything delivered — wait times are increasing. Allison said on Domino's Thursday earnings call that at his brand the times, in general, may be "a minute or two" longer in some areas, attributing the delays to the much-publicized dearth of people willing to delivery pizzas for a living.
Allison clearly identified on the call that the labor shortage that is plaguing the industry has also gotten the attention of Domino's leadership and that the company is and would be devoting more attention to possible solutions to the operational issues that result. As this website and many other media outlets have documented, the restaurant industry has been plagued by a lack of willing workers for most of the past year.
Despite these issues, as reported this week, Domino's has turned in an extremely positive financial performance this year, exceeding all the analysts expectations on financial performance and dividends.
