Domino's Pizza Australia changes name to reflect global reach

BRISBANE, Australia —
Domino's Pizza Australia & New Zealand has changed its name to Domino's Pizza Enterprises Ltd. (DEP) to reflect its broadening international reach.
According to a news release, Don Meij, the group's chief executive, said the name mirrors the fact that the company now operates stores in five countries.
"As we now own the master franchises for the Domino's Pizza brand in Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, the Netherlands and France, it is important that our name reflects this global reach," Meij said. "International markets are now a major part of our growth strategy, with the company working towards a goal of more than 1,600 stores across these countries."
DEP currently has 616 stores across its network, with plans to have 653 stores operating by the end of the current financial year.
"In the newly acquired European markets, we are seeing growth across the board," Meij added. "We have already opened three new stores this year in Europe, with another three under construction. We are also aiming for 12 percent same-store sales growth for the full year, with the markets expected to make their first profit contribution next financial year. In New Zealand, sales are tracking ahead of budget, making us positive about the future as we grow this market to 85 stores."
