BikeBiz.com: Domino's Pizza has rolled out a bicycle pizza delivery scheme in its new City of London store. The program is modeled on the bike delivery service provided by the Domino's units in Manhattan, N.Y., where bicycle delivery beats every other form of rapid response through congested streets.
It is estimated a bicycle delivery in London will shave up to 5 minutes off delivery times and could save a store thousands of dollars a year in fuel and maintenance costs.
"Congestion in London has always been a big challenge, but we've seen how successful bicycles have been in New York and hope to replicate the scheme here in the UK," said Andrew Mallow, operations director of Domino's Pizza UK & IRL.
