July 25, 2006

LONDON — Domino's Pizza UK & IRL turned in strong results for the first half of 2006.

According to a news release, comparable-store sales rose 8.3 percent for the first 26 weeks of the year versus 8.4 percent in the prior period. System sales rose 18.3 percent to £114.8 million (U.S. $211.3 million) versus £97.1 million (U.S. $178.7 million) in 2005. Pre-tax profit increased 24.5 percent to £6.3 million (U.S. $11.6 million) versus £5 million (U.S. $9.2 million) in 2005.

Twenty-one new stores opened in the period, while no stores were closed, resulting in a total of 428 stores system-wide.

Domino's e-commerce sales rose 46.9 percent to £9.6 million (U.S. $17.7 million) versus £6.5 million (U.S. $12 million) last year. E-commerce now represents 12.3 percent of the group's delivered pizza sales in the U.K.

"Five of the top-10-most successful Domino's Pizza stores in the world, as measured by system sales performance, are now within the markets we manage," said Stephen Hemsley, chief executive of Domino's Pizza UK & IRL.
