Domino's to deliver 1.3 million pizzas Super Bowl Sunday
January 30, 2007
ANN ARBOR, Mich. —
Domino's Pizza anticipates delivering 1.3 million pizzas nationwide on Super Bowl Sunday. According to a news release, that's about one-third more than it delivers on a typical Sunday.
Domino's said it has learned a few trends over its years delivering on the busiest day of the year. Among them:
- Close games tend to increase sales, and a late night sales spike occurs at stores in the city of the winning team.
- If Indianapolis beats Chicago, Domino's expects higher sales increases in the cities of other major AFC teams, and vice versa.
- Sixty percent of its orders will be for pepperoni pizzas, followed by sausage as the next most popular topping.
- Domino's delivery drivers will cover up to 4 million miles on Super Bowl Sunday in the U.S. alone.
- Pizza ordering peaks are just before kick-off and just before halftime.
