DoorDash offers drivers hourly pay option

Delivery company DoorDash is offering drivers the option to be paid hourly on deliveries, adding to its longstanding payment option of being paid per delivery.
The compensation option can be chosen on any order and the rate includes the active time — between accepting an order and delivering — not for the time when a driver is awaiting a new order to claim, according to a New York Times report.
Drivers, prior to the hourly pay option, were paid a base pay plus money for miles driven and then receive tips. Tips would still be applied with the hourly pay option.
DoorDash said the hourly pay is the result of driver input and requests.
"One of the things we've heard a lot is around choice: Choice of when, where and how they earn is really important," Cody Aughney, head of the company's Dasher and Logistics team, told the Times.
