BRISBANE, Australia — Eagle Boys Pizza is seeking expansion capital to further its presence in Australia.
According to a news release, Tom Potter, founder and managing director of the 155-unit chain, said the time is right to grow the company quickly.
"Although our franchising model has been highly successful and will continue to be, the opportunity to open stores faster by leveraging our unique points of difference needs to be realized by accelerated store growth," Potter said.
A story in the April 14 edition of The Australian reported Potter's is seeking AUS $10 million to $15 million (U.S. $7.7 million to $11.55 million) from outside investors.
The perfection of its Eaglexpress system (which guarantees carryout and drive-through customers a 2-minute transaction time on limited menu purchases) spurred the inclination to grow, the release read. The system allows it to compete not only with traditional pizza companies, but large fast-food operators like McDonalds and KFC, that also utilize drive-through service.

Eagle Boys recently introduced what it calls its "micro store" concept, which operates in airports and stadiums. The small-footprint sites use par-bake pizza technology and cost less than one-fourth the fee for a standard Eagle Boys store.
