Pueblo, Colorado-based East Coast Pizza is embracing technology with the addition of a robot named Bella, according to a report by FOX21 News.
East Coast Pizza owner Dominic Mannino said his pizzeria is down about three staff members after the COVID-19 shutdown and the robot is the newest employee.
"It's a great help for the waitresses we have right now," Mannino told the news station. "Bella helps us because it'll greet you, take you to your table and bring the food out to you. You can also put the dirty dishes back on, or she'll take it back."
The robot is manufactured by Pudu Robotics and features 360-degree sensors, tray tables and a smile. Bella is designed to learn the layout of the restaurant and table numbers. It's sanitized after visiting a table.
"We're just happy to be able to have this technology and be able to do this and to share with the customers and the people in southern Colorado," Mannino told the news channel.
