Extreme Pizza's franchise in Mission, Texas, is adding 21 self-pour beer taps through a self-service beer company, iPourIt. The wall of beer is the first of its kind in the area, according to a news release.
The store — which was temporarily shuttered due to the pandemic — has reopened for dine-in and drinking with a train of taps on its wall. Franchisee Aleck Romero owns both of the brand's Texas stores and installed the beer-lover's rendition of utopia as a way of providing drink options that were consistent with the brand's promise of extreme pizza options.
"We are excited about the self-pour concept and think it will really help attract customers at our second store," Romero said in the release. "The flexibility of the iPourIt system is perfect for our service style because customers can choose to pay upfront or open a tab. It also offers helpful reporting tools so we can see what's selling and what we should keep on tap."
The self-serve system charges customers for what they pour themselves, in whatever amount they choose. The company also said the taps reduce staff touchpoints on the device and allows for sampling of different brews.
IPourIt has a total of approximately 5,800 taps installed at 220 restaurant locations, which have poured at least 189 million ounces.
Extreme Pizza was founded in San Francisco 26 years ago and now has more than 50 stores nationwide.
