Family-owned Michigan pizzeria wins TripAdvisor Excellence award

TripAdvisor has awarded Holland, Michigan-based Crust 54 its Certificate of Excellence, given to properties that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor has awarded Holland, Michigan-based Crust 54 its Certificate of Excellence, given to properties that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.

"We are listed at number five, which is fantastic," Debbie Klaus, spokesperson for Crust 54, said in a statement. "We are proud to be one of the restaurants to carry a TripAdvisor Excellence Award."

In addition, Grand Rapids' local television station, WOTV 4, named Crust 54 in the Top 5 Pizza Places in Western Michigan.

Crust 54, which was purchased December 1, 2013, is a family-run business, operated by Debbie Klaus and her husband, Brian. Crust 54's new owners revitalized the restaurant's menu to focus fresh ingredients. The company makes all of their own dough and sauces and uses Grande cheese exclusively. Its menu features made-to-order salads and signature deep-dish pies with a touch of Chicago style.

"We are a pizzeria. Our focus is pizza. Our focus is fresh. We took the old menu from the previous owners and tweaked it by focusing on pizza recipes where we could highlight our homemade and fresh ingredients and by doing so, have created a delicious menu," said Debbie Klaus.
