Figaro's Italian Pizza's charitable organization awards 141 grants

H.E.L.P., the Charity has announced that in its first 18 months of existence it has issued 141 awards of grants totaling $19,587.17.
Through its grant program, H.E.L.P. provides grants to U.S. based non-profit tax exempt schools and other entities to support educational programs. H.E.L.P. was born out of the desire of the shareholders and franchisees of Figaro's Italian Pizza to make a positive impact on its communities.
Figaro's Pizza and its franchise owners conceived the Charity. H.E.L.P. ('Helping Education with Love and Pizza') in late 2010 and began raising funds that October.
The charity has since applied for and obtained 501(c)3 status from the Internal Revenue Service.
The funds awarded to date will facilitate the purchasing of:
- Band instruments in Burns, Philomath, Creswell, and Myrtle Creek, Ore.;
- Computer earphones in Defiance, Ohio;
- Supplies to build a weather station and a worm farm in Cottage Grove, Ore.;
- Team building supplies in Molalla, Ore.;
- A video projector at West Salem, Ore.;
- Books at Sandy, Creswell, Eugene and Scio, Ore.;
- Shoes for homeless students in Foster, Ore.;
- Digital cameras in Sweet Home, Ore.;
- School gardens in Roseburg, Ore.;
- Honor certificates in Winston, Ore.;
- Safety equipment in Rochester, Wash.;
- Scholarships for overcoming difficulties in Pulaski, Wisc.;
- Binders in Hamilton, Mon.;
- Supplies in Encinitas, Calif.;
- School books in Paulding, Ohio;
- Student achievement awards in Hines, Ore.;
- Art supplies at Dorena, Ore.;
- Posters encouraging wellness at Scappoose, Ore.;
- iPad educational apps at Phoenix, Ore.; and
- Library books in Keizer, Ore.
