HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. -- Chicago Pizza & Brewery, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHGO), reported revenues of $17.4 million for the first quarter of 2002, an increase of 13 percent over the same period last year. Net income of $736,000 was identical to the same period last year.
In a release, the company credited much of the revenue boost to two new restaurants opened late last year. Additionally, same-store sales were up 3.1 percent.
The company anticipates opening four to five restaurants this year and six to eight in 2003. It also has hinted at possible restaurant brand acquisitions.
Chicago Pizza & Brewery operates 28 casual dining restaurants, including 24 BJ's Brewhouse sites, and four Pietro's.
