Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana opening in Maryland mall

Legendary pizzeria Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, based in Connecticut, will open in the Bethesda, Maryland-based Westfield Montgomery Mall, according to a popville.com report.

The original "Pepe's Pizza" restaurant, located in New Haven, Connecticut and opened in 1925, will be the template for the Bethesda restaurant. Pizzas will be hand-stretched and baked in a 104,000-pound oven.

"It may have taken nearly a century for America's best pizza to arrive in (Bethesda), but we are thrilled to finally be here." Jennifer Kelly, granddaughter of Frank Pepe, told the news outlet. "These are our family's original recipes. We even replicated our signature coal-fired, hand-built brick oven using iron castings from the original restaurant."
