Connecticut-based Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, locally known as Pepe's Pizza, will open a shop in Alexandria, Virginia in the Alexandria Commons Shopping Center, according to a report in Alexandria Living Magazine.
The pizzeria is set to open July 18.
Founder Frank Pepe's granddaughter, Jennifer Bimonte-Kelly, will attend a ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. at the restaurant.
"We remain consistent because we never deviate from our family's original recipes cooked in our signature coal-fired, hand-built brick oven that includes iron castings from the New Haven restaurant," Kelly told the magazine. "Keeping tradition in mind helps us create a warm experience for our guests, who we consider an extension of the Pepe's family."
The 3,600-square-foot restaurant is situated around the brand's signature oven.
Pepe's was founded in 1925 in New Haven, Connecticut. Pepe's has stores in Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Virginia, with units coming in South Florida.
