Earlier this month, Freshslice Pizza had its soft opening in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, and surpassed all sales records. It is following up tomorrow with its official grand opening, according to a company press release.
"With our closest restaurant almost 1,000 kilometers [621 miles] away in Vancouver, this new record is a strong testament to the brand power our system has built up over the years. I won't be surprised to see more records fall as we grow across Canada," said Ray Russell, founder and CEO of Freshslice Pizza.
Prince George is a new beachhead for this growing British Colmubia-based brand. As such, the location was chosen for the unveiling of the new Freshslice "Vision 2020" interior. The project to upgrade the look of the physical plant started in April 2015.
"We sought to freshen the look of the stores to better comport with 21st-century tastes, combining some traditional old-world elements, such as a vaulted ceiling feature clad in aged brick with a light, modern color palette adjacent to a muted mix stone, contemporary floor and wall tile, subtle wood grains and metal accents," said Gord Metcalfe, owner of PixxelFactory Design Studio in Burnaby, B.C.
Several existing restaurants are slated for renovation. The redesign also incorporates high-resolution, panoramic photo wall graphics, an array of more traditional glass pendants, contemporary sculpted glass suspended units, and recessed, linear LED lights.
"We want our customers to walk into our pizzerias and think of them as world class, but success ultimately depends on the people behind the counter," Russell said.
Several grand opening activities are planned for tomorrow's 11 a.m. grand opening at the 999 Central St., Prince George location. 94.3 FM, the GOAT will be on site from 2 to 6 p.m. with special giveaways every hour.
"Pizza by the slice is something new and exciting in this market. When I met Ray and the Freshslice team last year, I knew that this was an up and coming and brand and that I wanted to be a part of it. We are very excited to continue to expand the Freshslice brand in the North," said Stewart Malqunas, a former NHL hockey player and new Freshslice franchisee partner.
Freshslice Pizza has grown to more than 70 locations in British Columbia over the past 16 years.
