Giordano's has implemented Cartwheel's delivery management platform across its corporate and franchise locations to manage high-volume periods, including the upcoming Super Bowl weekend and National Pizza Day, according to a press release.

The platform allows individual stores to route deliveries between in-house drivers and third-party providers based on real-time demand. This system includes time-based forwarding to manage pickup schedules and branded tracking to keep customers within the Giordano's digital interface regardless of who delivers the order.

"Chicago's love for pizza and football runs deep, and peak demand periods like Super Bowl weekend put real pressure on our operations," Nick Scarpino, CEO of Giordano's, said in the press release. "Cartwheel gives our store teams the control they need to make smart delivery decisions in real time while ensuring that every delivery feels like Giordano's, not a generic transaction. This is about protecting our brand while giving our teams the tools to succeed during our busiest moments."

The move follows a pattern of digital modernization under Scarpino, who previously worked with Cartwheel technology during his tenure at Portillo's. The rollout coincides with the brand's promotion of "Da Pizza," a collaboration with Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet available through Feb. 9.

"We're seeing enterprise pizza chains make strategic investments in delivery technology that gives them more control, not less," Alex Vasilkin, co-founder and CEO of Cartwheel added in the press release. "Giordano's is an iconic brand that understands operational excellence starts with giving your teams the right tools. We're proud to support their commitment to protecting the guest experience while expanding operational flexibility."

The implementation is part of a broader growth strategy for the 50-year-old brand, which recently expanded its menu to include tavern-style pizza alongside its traditional deep-dish offerings.
