Godfather's Pizza offering low-carb pizzas in Portland area

February 12, 2004

PORTLAND, Ore.—Godfather's Pizza has introduced a low-carbohydrate pizza at its 15 locations in Portland and next-door Vancouver, Wash.

According to the Oregonian, the product isn't just an ultra-thin crust, it looks and tastes like a typical pizza crust. A small, low-carb cheese pizza has a mere five net carbs per slice, and a small low-carb pepperoni pizza has 7.8 grams of net carbs per slice. By comparison, a typical slice of regular pepperoni pizza has about 31 net carbs.

The pie was developed under the direction of Ken Denfeld, president of the Pacific Pizza Company, the local Godfather's Pizza franchisee.

Based in Omaha, Neb., Godfather's has about 600 units.
