Grimaldi's Pizzeria said its fundraising initiatives this year have helped it donate $110,000 to the non-profit, No Kid Hungry, according to a news release. Since the brand began its support of the cause in 2013, Grimaldi's Pizzeria has raised more than $1 million to fight childhood hunger nationwide.
A portion of the donation comes thanks to a "Gratitude Fund" contribution from PepsiCo Frito-Lay, with which Grimaldi's collaborated earlier this year on the launch of a specialty New York-style pizza-flavored potato chip.
In September, Grimaldi's gave customers bounce-back cards to match donations to No Kid Hungry in increments of $5, up to a total of $25 per visit, which also contributed to the cause.
"Despite the challenges we've faced as a nation, within the restaurant industry, and at a personal level this year, I am so proud to see the way our communities have come together to continue supporting No Kid Hungry's efforts to end childhood hunger," said Eric Greenwald, president of Grimaldi's Pizzeria. "We are grateful for the opportunity to continue building a strong relationship between Grimaldi's and No Kid Hungry as we look forward to our ninth year of partnership."
Grimaldi's has more than 40 locations.
No Kid Hungry can provide up to 10 meals for each dollar donated to its national program to feed hungry children in the U.S., where it said one in four kids potentially faces hunger today.
