Grimaldi's Pizzeria slaps trademark infringement suit against former employee

October 22, 2014

New York staple Grimaldi's Pizzeria has issued a trademark infringement lawsuit against a Chinese business.

According to the New York Daily News, Grimaldi's JMC Restaurant Holdings, which owns the Grimaldi Pizzeria trademark, is accusing a former employee of planning to open a "counterfeit" concept in Shanghai, called "Patsy Grimaldi's."

The Chinese concept includes similar design elements to the original Grimaldi's, in Brooklyn, and the menu is allegedly copied almost verbatim.
