Happy Joe's Pizza & Ice Cream taps Thiess, former Papa John's exec.

BETTENDORF, Iowa — Happy Joe's Franchising Inc. the franchising arm of Happy Joe's Pizza & Ice Cream Parlor, Inc. has named Bob Thiess to the newly created position of executive director of franchise development.

According to a news release, Thiess will be responsible for Happy Joe's expansion program that focuses growth on multi-unit area development. Previously, Thiess was vice president of global development for Louisville, Ky.-based Papa John's.

In support of the new expansion program, Happy Joe's recently introduced a new décor package and expanded menu.

It also is seeking to boost growth area developers.

There are currently 65 Happy Joe's locations in six U.S. states.
