Home Run Inn introduced its first Northside Chicago restaurant at a private ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 13 in the Lakeview neighborhood at 3215 North Sheffield Ave. It officially opened to the public on Oct. 15, according to a company press release.
At the ceremony, Dan Costello, president of Home Run Inn, spoke about the integrity of the third-generation, family-owned business and announced a portion of the grand-opening weekend sales would be donated to Lakeview Pantry. Costello cut the ribbon with 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney to reveal the first Home Run Inn location in Lakeview.
Home Run Inn celebrated its official grand opening of the Lakeview location on Oct. 15 by welcoming Chicago locals into the restaurant for dine-in, carryout and delivery service that reaches north to Irving Park Rd., east to Lake Michigan, south to Fullerton Ave. and west to Damen Ave. The first 100 guests in line at the grand opening were gifted promotional coupons as a personal thank-you for their outstanding loyalty, the release stated. The coupons were valid for one free large, two-topping Home Run Inn pizza.
A percentage of the proceeds from the grand-opening weekend, totaling $5,000, was donated to support Lakeview Pantry in their efforts to eliminate hunger in the Lakeview community, where nearly one in nine individuals struggle with poverty and food insecurity. A gift of $5,000 is enough to purchase 50,000 pounds of food or 40,000 meals. Lakeview Pantry serves more than 4,400 households annually.
