Home Run Inn gives pizza to groups in need

Home Run Inn has pledged to feed hungry Chicagoans with 10,000 pizzas in celebration of its 75th anniversary.

The brand will continue the giveaway throughout the year In conjunction with the City of Chicago's Department of Family and Support Services, according to a press release.

Chicago homeless shelters received the first 1,000 pizzas from Home Run Inn's original 31st Street location.

"We are proud to have had the opportunity to establish roots in Chicago 75 years ago," Dan Costello, Home Run Inn CEO, said in the release. Costello took the helm from his late uncle Joe Perrino after his death in 2018, according to the release. "It's one of the best food cities in the world and to be one the legendary pizza brands is a great honor."

In the coming weeks and months, pizza giveaways will be set up for community members at the city's six community service centers, senior centers, and early childhood learning centers.

"Home Run Inn upholds our core family values as we remain dedicated to giving back to those in need," Gina (Perrino) Bolger, senior vice president of marketing and fourth-generation family member of Home Run Inn, said in the release.
