House approves 40% minimum wage hike
January 10, 2007
MarketWatch: House Democrats on Wednesdaywon passage of legislation that would boost the nation's minimum wagelevel from $5.15 an hour, where it's stood since 1997, to $7.25 by 2009. In a 315-116 vote, the House overwhelmingly backed the legislation. Economists estimate a hike would affect around 13 million low-wage workers.
