James Beard award winner takes over Denver pizzeria

James Beard-award winning chef Alex Seidel has taken over the now-closed Frontroom Pizza with plans to turn it into a new restaurant, according to a report in The Denver Post.

Seidel and Denver Chef Tim Bender will rebrand the local mainstay as Roca's by the end of the month or early February with a new bar and furniture.

"It really came down to me having a true love for that restaurant and not wanting to (lose) another option in our neighborhood," Seidel told the news outlet.

Seidel and Bender will serve a thin, crispy pizza and a Sicilian-style pan pizza from a signature Fudmill sourdough starter. Fresh pastas will also be available.
