OXNARD, Calif. — Online returned check and repayment processor JU$TCHEX announced it has a new search engine that verifies checks instantly before an operator accepts them.
According to a news release, Online Verify works for any business that accepts checks and has Internet access.
"Online Verify will enable our clients to detect bad checks (including closed accounts, repeat offenders and zero balance), providing a simple way to manage their check acceptance process," said JU$TCHEX's Richard McShirley. "The speed, accuracy and accountability of the response should make Online Verify a standard operating procedure."
Online Verify works when a user enters a check's routing and account numbers into a secure Web site. Within seconds, the system queries combined databases that include up to 200 million check writer accounts and replies with a result.
The system replies include "YES" for an open, funded account; "NO" for a closed account, repeat offender or a negative balance account. Details of all responses are also instantly added to the client's reporting list on the Web site as a cross reference.
