Little Caesars jumps on pretzel bandwagon with new pretzel pizza crust

Little Caesars has announced the roll out of its Pretzel Crust Pepperoni Pizza for six dollars.

The eight-week trial begins Sept. 1 and will continue if it catches on with customers, according to CEO David Scrivano.

"When we saw the pretzel trend emerging a few years ago, we asked ourselves, 'What can we do?'" said Scrivano in the announcement. "The product (will sell) itself."

Little Caesars began pizza pretzel developments in 2012 with test markets, but it was too heavy on mustard and turned off consumers. The latest no-mustard version comes with a cheddar cheese layer instead of pizza sauce, a blend of Asiago, Fontina, Parmesan, and White Cheddar cheeses and a thick pretzel crust.

The Soft Pretzel Pepperoni Pizza will be included in the company's Hot-N-Ready promotion, which is readymade for takeout, with no preordering required.
