Little Caesars latest pie dares diners to eat crust first

Just as Pizza Hut yesterday launched the return of its lighter crust, The Edge pizza, Little Caesars today announced it is headed in the opposite direction, with its introduction of a stuffed crust pie, the ExtraMostBestest pepperoni, which boasts a crust stuffed with still more pepperoni as well as cheese, a news release said.

Aside from pepperoni rounds blanketing the pie's top, as well as a mozzarella and Muenster cheese blend, it's crust is filled with mozzarella pepperoni. The chain is even building its marketing for the item around the idea of eating the crust first.

"This pizza is so cheesy and delicious, you just have to turn your slice around to eat it crust-first," CMO Jeff Klein said in the release. "It's the best way to really enjoy what has, until now, been the most under-appreciated part of the pizza."

The $10 item is available nationally. Little Caesers is based in Detroit.
